Library Technology Blog from Innovative Interfaces

I’m Eric and this is wireless…

Hello, I’m Eric Leckbee. I am the Product Manager for Circulation here at Innovative Interfaces. I have been at Innovative for over five years now. I started in the Customer Services Department on the Help Desk where I worked directly with our customers. This gave me hands-on experience with the many facets of Circulation and its many ancillary products and features.

These include general circulation behavior, interlibrary loan, self check and the SIP2 protocol, wireless circulation functionality, materials bookings, course reserves, inventory, patron API, as well as the variety of circulation products and features that Innovative provides to improve the experiences of library staff and library users.

Prior to working here I did library research work for Credit Suisse First Boston in the Technology Division, where I engaged in research on privately held emerging companies and the various technology sectors they worked in. I am also continuing to work on my MLIS degree at San Jose State University.

When not engaged in software design, I collect music, particularly vinyl records and spend a lot of time reading. I am also working on starting up my own reggae clothing business.

As a further introduction here’s a podcast interview with me we’re calling The Golden Age of Wireless. It’s all about Circa, our wireless solution for inventory and circ functions. I talk in the interview about how Circa allows staff to perform a bunch of tasks wherever they are in the library. No more filling carts with items and taking them back to a workstation!

Until later…
