I attend the web technology conference South By SouthWest every year and always come away with a good overview of new patterns in the way people are using and developing for the web. This year was certainly no exception.
We hope you enjoy this presentation, Trends from the Front Lines of Change, which will give you a taste of what’s coming next in the online world.
This is our first narrated presentation, so please do let us know how you like it.

Oh drat. The problem with trying out new techniques is that you run into some rough spots the first time through. It turns out in this recording that the narration while I’m on slide 2 is fine but the visuals jump ahead too early to slide 3.
When I say “The second trend cluster” and start talking about Kathy Sierra’s question, the slide text you should be seeing is this:
Trend cluster #2: Do You Feel It?
Cultivating Emotional Engagement
- Tools should make me happy
- I should want to identify myself with them
Enable Serendipitous Discovery
- Exploration, experimentation, play are key
Be A Catalyst
- Don’t just be interesting, make your users more interesting
I’ll re-record and put up a version without this problem as soon as possible.
(Tech tip for Keynote users: re-recording from a slide rather than recording the whole set continuously, may wind up giving you problems when you export to Quicktime/iPod format).

Wow! Your first podcast set the standard pretty high. Nonetheless I do hope others will jump on the bandwagon and produce more podcasts. It is the only way to really present visual and audio information on a 24/7 basis.
I did find that Firefox was more accepting of the podcast than IT 7 (despite having the latest QuickTime version installed).

I /luhve/ the narrated presentation/podcast. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Please continue to do these. (…and encourage others to do them as well!)
