If you are accustomed to logging in to a Yahoo account and moving from service to service without re-authenticating, you are using single sign-on technology. This kind of convenience is a given on the web and at college campuses that seek to give their users easy, single-session access to their student information and a variety of administrative departments.
With Innovative’s Single Sign-on product, libraries using Millennium, Encore, Research Pro, and INN-Reach will be integrated into their campus authentication-network. Anyone logged in to a campus service can access password-protected library services—such as subscription databases, patron record, requesting—without having to re-authenticate. In fact, users can log in at the library and move to other campus websites just as easily.
Once your library selects Single Sign-on, all the Innovative team needs is a library-supplied SSO module compatible with the Apache™ server used to integrate your Innovative products into your SSO system. They’ll work with the campus IT department directly, plus there’s no down time involved in WebPAC during the implementation.
Innovative’s Single Sign-on has been implemented at libraries using several different SSO authentication methods such as: Central Authentication Service (CAS), Pubcookie, Shibboleth®, WebAuth, Tivoli, Bespoke, and Sun’s Identity Manager™. Innovative’s Single Sign-on product will work with whatever SSO environment you have just as long as an Apache loadable SSO module can be provided.
